this elusive variant can only be discovered by those who venture off the coasts of taxo grande. magikarp that reach level 20 in the thick oily waters near the old oil rig evolve into this kamerigon variant of gyarados who now has scales thickened by oil and sharp metal spines now rusted from abuse. This gyarados is much more volatile than its kanto counterpart and can be harder to control.
this variant of gyarados is inspired by the several oil rigs off the coast of texas. this is where it gets its darker-oil like coloration of scales, which would make it more camouflage. then, the fins take more of a brown-rusted color inspired by the rusted tools often used with oil machinery. the shiny variant takes on the more multi-colored rainbow coloration that oil makes when the light catches it and has brighter metallic fins. the kamerigo gyarados maintains its water typing, but takes on the poison typing to represent the toxicity of oil, especially when introduced into the waterways.
