this variant of marill can be found along polis’ shores. unlike it’s johto counterpart, the kamerigon marill’s tail is filled with air. its believed that marills living in kamerigo adapted their tail to resemble the beach balls often played with on the polis shore to attract trainers to it. professors also believe its different coloration is due to sun-kissed sand and clear ocean waves.
designed originally for the state of new jersey, i took inspiration for the kamerigo variant of marill from the jersey shore. i kept marill's usual blue color but made it a lighter tone to resemble the water better and made the accent pouches more sandy. additionally the tail is inspired by the beach ball, as its a common activity for the beach, and adds a fun background to the new design. the shiny version of this variant more closely resembles the original coloration of marill.
