dex entry

gadgers were created in a secret lab within the third district. they are highly intelligent, possessing all knowledge on pankasu’s databases and the entire pokédex. they are usually found aiding in the labs of the third and sixth district. only determined trainers who visit the lab’s top scientist will have the chance to catch a gadger of their own. gadgers are incredible inventors and tinkerers, but have not quite mastered matters of social graces. this has led many trainers to view gadgers as rude or mischievous as they often take whatever they believe can be made into a new invention. they are solitary creatures, but bond closely with malformed klinks that have been separated from its twin, determined to bring glory to its small friend once again.

design breakdown

district 3 is made up of parts of illinois, indiana, iowa, wisconsin, michigan, and minnesota. for this district, i took inspiration from wisconsin's state animal: the american badger. then, because of the fact that district 3 is known for technology, i wanted to create a more robotic-looking pokémon but that still had the loveable-cuddle-ness of the badger. i stayed with the normal coloration of the badger, greys and blacks, which meshed well with the metallic looks. i also had the idea of using one of my favorite steel type pokémon, klink, in the design because i love when pokémon are interconnected to other ones. so instead of the usual twins, i had only one half of klink to add to the lore of gadger. the colored nose of klink is where i got the neon accent color from. this can be even more noticeable with the shiny variant of gadger which holds a shiny klink and has green neon accents.
