final project in my junior level studio. i was assigned designing a product that aids in alleviating or reducing muscular issues in elderly adults. for this project, i used my own grandparents to influence the product and how likely it is to be used
originally, i tried to address different types of exercise through one project. however, i realized that it would be difficult to have one product appeal to as many peope as possible
that's when i began to pivot to a concept that used technology to connect seniors with others, could address different exercise styles, required minimal supplies and space, as well as could accomodate to those seniors who had limited abilities
it was through this journey that i settled on what would be known as the carrot fitness game system. i wanted to utilize resistant bands because they are readily available and they are often used in physical rehabilitation centers, especially for activities for seniors, because they are adaptive and so versatile. i built several prototypes to experiment which handle style was the most ergonomic and what band-fastening system would be the most secure while easy for those with hand dexterity issues
i wanted to provide the carrot to motivate and empower seniors (and everyone) to become more active through a playful manner that almost makes you forget that you are exercising.
this system can be used "tabletop" mode, using only an ipad for display or used "docked" mode through an hdmi connection between the main box and a television.

archery is a great way to work on your upper body strength! keep one hand stretched out towards the console to aim, and keep the other pulled back parallel to your shoulder to load your arrow. to shoot, stay in place for five seconds and see how you made out! don't forget to switch arms every round!
explore our ever expanding list of activities to challenge yourself and work different parts of your body! every game can be played solo or multi-player.
some game like archery or basketball requires the use of resistance bands, but others like dancing and bowling only need the handle sensors
most games request you stand during the activity, but for those with mobility concerns, go to settings and toggle the accessibility options
