as our first project in intro to graphic communications class we were to design a mug which we would then print
for my mug, i wanted to make something that reflected myself, my interests, and the important people in my life.
some of them are fairly simple to understand as i have references criminal minds, star wars, true crime, supernatural, the good place, community, the 100, cats, lego, books, origami, scooby doo, cats, hockey, disney, bob's burgers, harry potter, hunger games, riverdale archie comics, monopolu, winnie the pooh, spider-man, scream, psych, taylor swift's 1989 album, percy jackson, and figment from the disney ride.
others symbols have deeper meanings such as:
the geometric penguin to represent my mom, whose favorite animal is the penguin
the tazmanian devil from looney tunes to represent my dad who was a big fan of taz and had a tattoo of him
dandelion wishes to represent my love of the weed and seeing the beauty in even mundane items
a chick-fil-a cup of lemonade to represent my grammy who was one of the only people i know who loved super sour and tart lemonade as much as me
the blank ribbon to represent the multitude of causes i believe in and have had a personal connection to such as stomach cancer, mental heath, suicide awareness, and dementia
the colored in brain and heart to represent that i am a culmination of both the heart and the head, using both my emotions and my rationale to handle life
once our designs were done, we used the mug heat press in our building to transfer our printed design to our mugs. i absolutely loved this experience and i love my mug!
